Ireland Baldwin opens up about past sexual assault, abortion experiences

On TikTok over the weekend, Ireland Baldwin spoke candidly about her experience being sexually assaulted as a teen, an incident she said fueled years of trauma. She also opened up about an abortion she later had, explaining that the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last week made her consider the detrimental effects having a child she wasn't prepared for might have been at a time when she was already struggling because of the rape. "Before I share what I am going to share, I don't feel that it is anybody's responsibility to talk about this if they don't feel comfortable .. I am only now sharing my story because I want other women to feel supported and loved, whether they want to share their own or not," said Ireland, 26, in the post. "I was raped when I was a teenager and I was completely unconscious when it happened and it changed the course of the rest of my life. … I kept that secret inside of me for years, and because I did, it caused a lot of hurt and a lot of pain to me and to people I love," she continued. Since she "harbored so much pain and so much guilt for so long," Ireland said she ultimately "lost control" of her life. "I drank a lot more, I partied a lot more, I self-medicated, I was in other abusive and toxic relationships and friendships. I pretty much just did everything I could to distract myself," she recalled. "Seeing so many other brave women share their stories got me thinking what my life would have been like if I had become pregnant and if I had to raise a baby during everything I was going through at the time. Mind you, I have medical resources, money and support that a lot of women do not have access to. It would've simply been traumatizing and impossible." Ireland said she was later in an "unhappy" relationship with a guy who "never wanted kids or marriage" when she accidentally became pregnant. "I chose to get an abortion because I know exactly what it felt like to be born between two people who hated each other," she said, referencing her parents, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's ugly split. She said she "maybe" could have kept the child and put it up for adoption. "But choosing to raise a baby without my own financial security, without a loving and supportive partner, that wasn't gonna work for me," Ireland explained. "I chose me, and I would choose me again. It's your life, it's your choice."

A new report claiming Johnny Depp has a $301 million deal in the works to return to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise is likely no more than a rumor, according to E! News. The claim surfaced Monday, June 27, via Australia's Poptopic website, which quoted an "industry insider" as saying "Disney is very interested in patching up their relationship" with Johnny after he won his defamation case against ex-wife, Amber Heard, earlier this month. "They are very hopeful that Johnny will forgive them and return as his iconic character," the source reportedly said. A few hours later, however, E! reported Johnny's rep dismissed the claim, telling NBC News it was "made up." Alec Baldwin professed his "love" for Woody Allen on Instagram ahead of his planned interview with the director, whose daughter, Dylan Farrow, has repeatedly alleged he molested her at age 7 — claims Woody's long denied. "I'm gonna be doing an Instagram Live with Woody Allen, who I love," Alec said in a video post on Sunday, June 26. "I love you, Woody," he added while showing viewers Woody's book "Zero Gravity." "It's so preposterous, and yet the smear has remained," the director said in a 2020 Paramount+ interview (via People). "They still prefer to cling to if not the notion that I molested Dylan, the possibility that I molested her. Nothing that I ever did with Dylan in my life could be misconstrued as that," he added. Alec worked with Woody on multiple films between 1990 and 2013, including "Blue Jasmine." Alec's interview airs on Instagram Live on Tuesday.
