In a stunning Supreme Court breach, a draft majority opinion that would strike down Roe v. Wade — the 1973 SCOTUS decision that made access to safe and legal abortion a constitutional right — was leaked to the press on May 2, 2022. The opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, said, "We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled." After POLITICO received the draft, news of the leak and the decision reverberated across the country, including in the entertainment world. See what the stars had to say about it, starting with this late night host… "If these folks believe Roe was so egregiously decided, why didn't they tell the senators during their confirmation hearings? Because Americans support abortion at 80%. They knew if they were honest they wouldn't get the job, so they lied, which is perjury." —Stephen Colbert

Megyn Kelly was deeply troubled over the breach — she also pinned blamed on the left. "The pathetic spineless leak of a draft SCOTUS opinion has the feel of something a sad little woke 20-something-year-old would do," she tweeted. "The kind of person who thinks their personal agenda is 'more important.' Whoever did it should lose their law license."

"If guys got raped and pregnant, there'd be abortions available on every corner. Every street corner a different clinic that would take care of the problem," Howard Stern said on his Sirius XM show. "How women would vote for this agenda is beyond me. Who the hell wants to carry a baby that you do not want? And again, the people who carry these babies who don't want them don't raise these kids and then we're stuck with them… Here's what I say. All the unwanted children should be allowed to live at the Supreme Court building with those Justices and they should raise every one of those babies. That crackpot Clarence Thomas and that wife and all of them. They can raise those babies that they want."

"The consequences of this decision would be a blow not just to women, but to all of us who believe that in a free society, there are limits to how much the government can encroach on our personal lives," said former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama in a joint statement. "And this decision is unlikely to significantly reduce abortions, which have been steadily going down over the past several decades thanks in large part to better access to contraception and education. Instead, as we've already begun to see in states with restrictive abortion laws, those women with means would travel to states where abortion remains legal and safe. Meanwhile those without enough money or access to transportation or ability to take off from school or work would face the same circumstances most women faced before Roe, desperately seeking out illegal abortions that inevitably pose grave risks to their health, their future ability to bear children, and sometimes their lives."

"#RoeVWade has been settled law, guaranteed by the Constitution for 50 years; the 14th Amendment to the document that is the foundation of our country's laws. If they strike down this amendment, what is to stop them striking down others that conservatives don't agree with? #SCOTUS has revealed itself to be just another political tool, as the three new unabashedly biased conservatives plus the old push the court to undermine women's rights. Shameful. They will never recover from this; it's right up there with #DredScott and #PlessyVFerguson." –Bette Midler

"If you are upset that #RoeVWade is about to be overturned by the Supreme Court but you didn't vote in 2016 or you voted for Trump because you didn't like the smart lady, YOU did this w/your apathy or your decision to choose an imp for President. YOU gave him THREE SCOTUS seats. Votes matter. Voting in EVERY election matters. The people we elect — or those who are elected when people can't be bothered to #vote — make decisions every day that affect our lives & livelihoods. This decision affects the HEALTHCARE of millions of women. Great job! #sarcasm" –Yvette Nicole Brown

"Everybody wants to tell me what to do! This is my body… you won't let me make my decisions about my body? You are not the person to make that decision," Whoopi Goldberg said on "The View." "It has nothing to do religion, this is not a religious issue. This is a human issue. If you care about me as a human being, you should know three things. Getting an abortion is not easy. Making that decision is not easy. It's not something people do lightly, it's not something you can just do. It is a hard, awful decision that people make. If you don't have the wherewithal to understand that, to start the conversation with, 'I know how hard this must be for you.' If you're starting it by telling me I'm going to burn in hell, then you're not looking out for me as a human being, whether I subscribe to your religion or not, and that is not OK."
