Julie Bowen is being hailed as a hero after tending to an injured hiker in the Utah wilderness.
In speaking with NJ.com, Minnie John said she was hiking in Arches National Park with her husband and son on Aug. 2 when she got lightheaded. After telling her family to continue on with the hike, the woman sat down on a rock on a semi-secluded part of the trail and tried to catch her breath.
She soon fainted and fell forward, partially landing on her face.
"I bent forward into my knees and was holding my head," she said. "That's all I remember."
Luckily for Minnie, the "Modern Family" star and her sister Annie Luetkemeyer, a doctor specializing in infectious diseases, had been hiking nearby and came across the New Jersey woman, who was unconscious. When Minnie came to consciousness, she found Julie and Annie tending to her and bandaging her nose.
"I kept hearing Julie talking and directing other people, telling me I was going to be okay," Minnie said.
At this point she started to recognize Julie — or at least she thought she did.
"My eyes are focusing on Julie and I kept saying 'Are you sure I don't know you?,'" Minnie recalls saying.
While keeping Minnie talking, Julie then took her hair tie off and asked the woman to guess how she knew her.
"Then she said Modern Family and I'm like, 'oh my gosh, you're so beautiful!'" Minnie said.
Julie and Annie waited with Minnie until she was reunited with her husband and son. Once Minnie parted ways with her famous rescuer, Minnie went to a local hospital and was treated for a fractured nose and given five stitches.
"At the time when you're all alone and you have no-one, you just have God," she said. "And God sent [Julie and Annie.] I wasn't even lying there. They saw me fall and they immediately got to me and they took care of me. Just like the good Samaritan in the Bible."
After the incident, Julie and her family hiked up the iconic Delicate Arch. She shared an image to Instagram.
