Allison Mack says she regrets her role in NXIVM ahead of sentencing
Over the weekend, former "Smallville" actress Allison Mack publicly expressed regret for the first time for her participation in the NXIVM cult and its sex slave society, DOS. The statement was submitted to a federal judge ahead of Allison's June 30 sentencing. Arrested in 2018 for "racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and forced labor conspiracy," Allison pleaded guilty to the racketeering charges the following spring, according to Esquire. Now on "home-confinement" while working at a catering company, she could face 14 to 17 years behind bars for her crimes, which stemmed largely from her punishment "enforcer" role in the cult, where she allegedly oversaw punishments including "physical and sexual abuse, starvation, and branding of her DOS 'slaves,'" Esquire reported this week. In her statement to the judge, published by The Hollywood Reporter, Allison wrote, in part, "It is now of paramount importance to me to say, from the bottom of my heart, I am so sorry. I threw myself into the teachings of Keith Raniere with everything I had. I believed, whole-heartedly, that his mentorship was leading me to a better, more enlightened version of myself. I devoted my loyalty, my resources, and, ultimately, my life to him. This was the biggest mistake and greatest regret of my life." The statement continued, "I am sorry to those of you that I brought into NXIVM. I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man. I am sorry that I encouraged you to use your resources to participate in something that was ultimately so ugly. I do not take lightly the responsibility I have in the lives of those I love and I feel a heavy weight of guilt for having misused your trust, leading you down a negative path." According to Esquire, "sentencing guidelines call for 14 to 17 years" for Allison. The actress' former partner and the leader of the cult, Keith Raniere was sentenced last fall to 120 years in prison.
Keep reading to see what Jamie Lynn Spears is saying about her sister's conservatorship hearing statement and more …
Now that Britney Spears has spoken out about her conservatorship in her own defense, her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, feels comfortable enough to "follow her lead." On June 28, Jamie Lynn addressed Britney's recent request to end the arrangement that's put the sisters' father and others in charge of Britney's life for more than a decade. Jamie Lynn's three-minute video clip opened with her saying she's always "loved, adored, and supported" Britney. "I've made a very conscious choice in my life to only participate in her life as her sister, as an aunt to those boys," a tearful Jamie Lynn continued (via EW). "Maybe I didn't support [her the way] the public would like me to with the hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you that I supported my sister long before there was a hashtag, and I'll support her long after." She went on to say Britney is the only person "I owe anything to," then commended the singer, saying she's "so proud of her for using her voice … for requesting new counsel, like I told her to do many years ago," and more. At her hearing last week, Britney read a statement to the judge overseeing her case in which she alleged her father, Jamie Spears, and other people whose salary she's been paying for years, have left her traumatized, unable to get married and not allowed to have another baby, despite her desire to do both.

Courtney Love reacts to Olivia Rodrigo's 'Hole'-inspired 'Sour Prom' promo
Courtney Love is less-than-impressed with Olivia Rodrigo's "Sour Prom" concert film photo. The 18-year-old "Drivers License" singer appears in a prom dress and tiara, with mascara running down her face as she holds a bouquet of flowers in the shot, which looks a whole lot like the iconic 1994 Hole album cover for Courtney's band's "Live Through This." Courtney shared the "Sour Prom" pic on social media over the weekend, writing, "Spot the Difference! #twinning," followed by a string of emojis. "Love u and live through this sooooo much," Olivia replied in the comments. Though Olivia's comment implied she meant to pay tribute to the Hole cover, not rip it off, Courtney's Facebook comments about the similarity weren't entirely positive when she began chatting with fans in the thread. "It was rude of her, and geffen (records) not to ask myself or Ellen von unwerth," Courtney wrote (via Bustle), name-checking the photographer responsible for the Hole cover. "It's happened my whole career so I d c. But manners is manners!" Later in the thread, she explained, "It's rude not to be asked. I know Ellen Von Unwerth isn't amused. My cover was my original idea. Yes it's rude." When a fan wondered if Courtney was offended or touched by the gesture, she said it was a bit of both," stressing that Olivia and Geffen should have gotten her approval first. "I've asked her for flowers and a note," Courtney added. "I sure hope it's long. Does Disney teach kids reading and writing ?" she joked. "God knows. Let's see." Over on Instagram, meanwhile, Courtney replied to Olivia's "love u and live thru this" comment by politely suggesting the younger singer's next move: "Olivia – you're welcome," she wrote. "My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! Dm me for deets! I look forward to reading your note!"
