The 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards aired on June 25, 2021. In honor of the event, which celebrates excellency in daytime programming, Wonderwall.com is taking a look at some of our favorite talk show personalities who've won outstanding talk show host trophies… starting with this singer-turned-stellar host… Kelly Clarkson is daytime television's new queen. After debuting "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in 2019, the very first "American Idol" winner was nominated for — and won — a Daytime Emmy for outstanding entertainment talk show host following her first season in 2020. She then went two for two when she took home the best talk show host trophy again at the June 2021 Daytime Emmys, where her program also won for outstanding entertainment talk show… which means the pop star now has just as many Emmys (three!) as she does Grammys.

1987 was the first year Oprah WInfrey took home an Emmy for outstanding talk show host. She went on to earn the award six more times — five of which were won in consecutive years.

Ellen DeGeneres, whose acclaimed talk show is set to end in 2022, has long been a daytime darling. In 2005, she earned her first outstanding talk show host Daytime Emmy Award — a prize she won for four consecutive years.
The very first recipient of the Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding talk show host? That'd be "Dinah's Place" host Dinah Shore, who received the accolade in 1974. "Dinah's Place" ran from 1970 to 1974 on NBC.
Who doesn't love Tamron Hall?! The broadcast journalist took home her first Daytime Emmy Award (which she earned her first year being nominated) in 2020 for outstanding informative talk show host for her self-titled program. "I just got a call that I won an Emmy for my first year on a Daytime talk show," she wrote on Instagram alongside a video. "Congratulations to all the other nominees. Please no one record this, delete it immediately," she quipped.
In 2019, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb received a Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding informative talk show host for their work hosting the fourth hour of the "Today" show dubbed "Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda." "I've never done anything in my life to get an award for it. Just doing it well is what I was taught. 'Do it the best you can, honey,' my mom and dad said, 'and leave the rest to God,'" Kathie said while accepting the award on the pair's behalf. "Well, God's doing a really, really good job tonight."
Kelly Ripa is no stranger to receiving praise for her hosting duties! In 2019, she and co-host Ryan Seacrest — with whom she jointly hosts "Live! with Kelly and Ryan" — took home the Emmy for outstanding entertainment talk show host. Ryan took over as co-host following Michael Strahan's departure from the show in 2017 after Kelly ran the show solo for a while.

In 2017, CBS's "The Talk" co-hosts Sheryl Underwood, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Julie Chen won the Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding entertainment talk show hosts after years of being nominated. "So proud to be part of this Emmy Winning Team of Best Hosts! Way to go ladies !!!! I love you all so much !!!! #DaytimeEmmys," Julie tweeted with a photo of colleagues Sara, Sharon and Aisha accepting the award on the group's behalf.
A true icon. Over the course of her illustrious career, Rosie O'Donnell has proven on more than one occasion that her hosting duties are almost unmatched. After earning her very first Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding talk show host in 1997 for her work on "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," she received the honor four more times — two of which (in 1998 and 2001) saw her tied with Oprah Winfrey and Regis Philbin, respectively. She's seen here accepting the honor on stage in 2001.
2015 marked the year in which the ladies of "The Chew" — Jeannie Mai, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Loni Love and Adrienne Houghton — took home the Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding informative talk show host for their aforementioned series.
We'll always love you, Regis! In 2001, the late Regis Philbin received his first Emmy for outstanding talk show host for his work on "Live With Regis." His next win came 10 years later in 2011 when he earned the same award alongside co-host Kelly Ripa for their work on "Live! With Regis and Kelly." The pair won once more in 2012.
Steve Harvey has earned an impressive five Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the outstanding informative talk show host category for his self-titled show and won in 2017 and 2018. He also has numerous other Daytime Emmy noms including for outstanding game show host for his work leading "Family Feud."
In 1990, the late, great Joan Rivers became a Daytime Emmy Award winner for the first time. That year, the comedian took home the prize for outstanding talk show host for her work on "The Joan Rivers Show," which ran from 1989 to 1993. "I always had a fantasy as a child that I'd win one of these," said Joan when she took the stage to accept the award for the first time. "I never thought I'd be this old when the fantasy came true, but here it is."

Former "Live!" co-hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan made a great duo, despite ongoing drama: In both 2015 and 2016, they won the Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding entertainment talk show host. Their second win came amid a tumultuous two weeks as Michael had recently announced his departure for "Good Morning America."
Just one year after the premiere of "The Dr. Oz Show," Dr. Mehmet Oz took home his very first Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding talk show host in 2010. He went on to receive the same honor again in 2014 and in 2016 was named best informative talk show host.
In 2003 and 2004, Wayne Brady took home back-to-back Daytime Emmys for outstanding talk show host for his work on "The Wayne Brady Show." The variety show ran from 2001 to 2004.
Who remembers this series? Montel Williams hosted his eponymous tabloid talk show from 1991 to 2008. His hosting duties were recognized at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 1996 when he earned the accolade for outstanding talk show host.
2009 marked the year in which the ladies of "The View" — at the time, the panel was made up of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar and Sherri Shepherd — received their first Daytime Emmy Award together for outstanding talk show host.
In 2013, "Hairspray" actress Ricki Lake received the Daytime Emmy Award for outstanding talk show host for her work on her syndicated series "The Ricki Lake Show."
