Ricky Schroder is being ripped online for posting an Instagram video showing him berating a California Costco employee who refused to let the former child star enter the store without a face mask.
The employee, named Jason, maintained his cool and explained that that particular Costco in Los Angeles was abiding by the California state-wide mask mandate, which is still currently in place.
"You're going to listen to these people? They've destroyed our economy. They're destroying our state. And you're just going to listen to their rules?," Ricky shouts at the man and explains that he is getting a refund from the store, and he encouraged his followers to do the same.
The employee explains that the state-wide mask mandate is likely to end sometime in June.
"Boycott Costco till they act like a Free American Company…not [China]," Ricky captioned a video.
While Ricky was probably expecting to get applauded for his actions, the opposite occurred.
"Dude I get the frustration but this guy is literally doing his job… if he doesn't then he loses his job and way to feed his family," one person commented on the post. Another added, "Sorry, even being a strong conservative and anti-masker, the Costco dude is right. ONLY if the state and county do not have a mask mandate. He's only trying to do his job."
"I don't think employees should be harassed," a different commenter said.
A few hours after posting his video, Ricky posted a different video that covered an array of topics making him angry. In it, he addressed the Costco video.
"Jason, nothing personal. I'm not upset with you or anybody in the position like you have, who works for a living," he said. "I understand you were following your laws and rules. I was trying to make a point to the corporate overlords and I'm sorry that I had to use you to do it. And if I hurt your feelings, I apologize. I do think that independence for medical tyranny is more important than hurting people's feelings, so I'm sorry I hurt your feelings."
