March is set to be a big month for soon-to-be parents Bindi Irwin and her husband, Chandler Powell. In addition to welcoming their first child together, the couple will celebrate their first year of marriage next month.
In the meantime, Chandler's getting a head start on his future role as a proud papa — and Bindi's sharing her gratitude for the man she calls the "light of my life."
Over the weekend, the Australian conservationists shared a pair of sweet posts on Instagram.
"Every day I'm thankful for this extraordinary man that I get to call my husband. @chandlerpowell, I love you with all my heart," Bindi, 22, wrote alongside a photo of the two. "You're the light of my life," she added.
Bindi used similar phrasing when she announced she'd quietly married her "best friend" last spring at the Australia Zoo, telling fans on social media, "there are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart," after the wedding.
One year later, Bindi and Chandler are preparing to welcome a new "Baby Wildlife Warrior" into their lives — and as Chandler shared on Instagram on Feb. 27, she's making strong progress towards a healthy birth weight ahead of Bindi's March due date.
Sharing their daughter-to-be's latest weight milestone in wildlife terms (of course), Chandler showed off a Boomerang of himself with Bindi and a reptile pal.
"Blue tongue lizard family photo! Our baby girl is now weighing in at almost 6 blue tongue lizards…or 6 pounds💙," he captioned the shot.
Bindi met Chandler at the Australia Zoo back in 2003, when she was giving a tour he was on while traveling Down Under for a wakeboarding competition, according to Discovery.com. The two stayed in touch and fell in love, long-distance style, with Bindi visiting Chandler in Florida for his prom and Chandler getting to know the Irwin family in Australia when he was able to come see Bindi.
The happy couple got engaged on Bindi's 21st birthday; they said "I do" on March 25, 2020.
