Fashion hits and misses for March 2020

Spring is upon us, and the stars are pulling out some pretty lovely (and lousy!) looks this March. Wonderwall.com is rounding up the best and worst style moments of the month, starting with this fabulously over-the-top ensemble! Celine Dion gave us some serious vintage Carrie Bradshaw vibes in New York City on March 8. The superstar stepped out in this cream sweater with floral embellishments paired with a bubble-hemmed pink floral skirt for a delightfully over-the-top street style moment. The overdone sheer trend continued this March, and this time it was Eiza Gonzalez who scored a big fashion miss while embracing it. The star wore this disastrous frock to the "Bloodshot" film premiere in Los Angeles on March 10. She sported this ruby red Christopher Kane gown that featured plenty of sequins and an entirely see-through skirt, which felt like an unnecessary move from how the contrasting red and black frock started out.

Katy Perry embraced highlighter yellow on March 11! The pop star performed for those affected by the fires in Australia while rocking this sweet Valentino neon yellow number with a ruffled skirt and ruffled sleeves. And though we loved the minidress, we wish she would have paired it with anything other than those teal blue sneakers.

Helena Bonham Carter can always be counted upon for a funky ensemble — even during quarantine. The star stepped out to walk her dog in London on March 23 in this mashup of prints and fabrics, from a fluffy green coat to a floral dress to a moon and stars printed scarf. Then she topped it all off with some bows in her hair and chunky boots to boot!

"Mulan" star Liu Yifei looked like a real life princess at the film's London premiere on March 12. The star's Elie Saab ballgown featured off-the-shoulder ruffled sleeves, a semi-sheer corset-style bodice and a full chiffon layered skirt. She paired it with an updo and a bold red lip for a classically glamorous red carpet ensemble.

Would you take your dog for a walk in this outfit? Emily Ratajkowski embraced this bizarre baggy chic combination out in New York City on March 11, and you might be surprised to know the look was designer. Yep, that tan blazer, white turtleneck, and baggy trouser combo was Givenchy, and scored her a major miss this month.

Nina Dobrev donned this crisp white shirt-dress in New York City on March 5. We loved the simple Gabriela Hearst piece, and the way she styled it with a brown belt, knee-high brown boots and sunglasses hanging from the unbuttoned collar.

We weren't expecting this from Vin Diesel! The action star arrived at the premiere of "Bloodshot" in Los Angeles on March 10 decked out in this long coat paired with a black t-shirt underneath and leather pants for a surprising getup that unfortunately landed him on the miss list.

Alessandra Ambrosio stepped out in Los Angeles on March 12 in this comfy cozy ensemble — jeans and sneakers paired with a colorful striped sweater and scarf.

Yikes! Rita Ora sported this truly bizarre ensemble in London on March 16. The singer rocked this Courreges outfit, comprised of a cropped leather jacket with brown and orange paneling over what seemed to be a flesh-toned bodysuit (maybe?) and pants with slits along the thighs and splits at the hem for a truly baffling combination.

We love a good monochromatic moment! Sofia Vergara sported several shades of gray while out in Los Angeles on March 11 — a chic coat, t-shirt, gray denim jeans and gray peep-toe pumps — and even added a gray bag to the mix.

Meghan Trainor was on hand for the Christian Cowan x The Powerpuff Girls Runway Show in Los Angeles on March 8 and arrived wearing full Powerpuff Girl-inspired garb from the designer. From the dramatic blue feathers to her blue-tinged pigtails to those chunky boots, despite being on-theme for the night, we couldn't get behind this wild look.

Celine Dion always treats the world as her runway and rocked this killer hot pink combination from Peter Do while out in New York City on March 7 — a four-piece monochromatic look comprised of a jacket, blouse, pleated skirt and trousers that no other star could have pulled off.

Bella Hadid reinvented the Canadian tuxedo during Paris Fashion Week on March 1, but we hope this doesn't start a trend! The model arrived at the Balenciaga show in a disastrous denim getup by the brand that included a full-length jean jacket, a denim shirt and some horribly baggy jeans. Her cropped brown tank top and funky black boots added insult to injury.

We adored the subtly studded black frock that Evan Rachel Wood wore to the "Westworld" premiere in Los Angeles on March 5. The star sported a sleek Versace number with a sweetheart neckline and thigh-high slit with a pair of pointy-toe black heels — a standout look.

There was too much happening with the ensemble that Camila Cabello wore to the Global Awards in London on March 5. The Dolce & Gabbana design featured a white dress shirt embellished with red roses topped with a black corset and finished off with a lace skirt. Though we appreciated the bold fashion moment, we couldn't get behind this wacky combination.

We loved the spring-ready outfit that Hilary Duff wore while out and about in Los Angeles on March 4. The actress wore a pretty patterned long-sleeved blouse tucked into light denim jeans and completed her look with chic brown knee-high boots –giving us all some great fashion inspiration.

W hy, Eiza Gonzalez? The star showed up to a photocall for "Bloodshot" in Los Angeles on March 6 in this extremely questionable ensemble — a pair of jeans with a strapless crop top that inexplicably gave way to a full-length dress. The Brandon Maxwell design wasn't helped by those funky sandals, ensuring this look scored a big F.

Red and pink are hard to pull off together, but Christina Aguilera rocked the clashing colors well at the "Mulan" premiere in Los Angeles on March 9. The star arrived in a gorgeous Galia Lahav gown with long sleeves and a thigh-high slit and completed her look with bold red knee-high boots.

No thanks, Kourtney Kardashian. The reality star stepped out in this horrid Balmain leather catsuit in a deep brown hue during Paris Fashion Week on March 1. She paired it with knee-high black books for a look we assume was trying to garner attention and make headlines but in reality totally fell flat.

Kaia Gerber delivered some off-duty style while in Paris for Fashion Week on March 2. The model rocked a gingham blazer atop a navy blue turtleneck with baggy denim and brown boots — a chic street-style look.

Ellie Goulding scored a miss with this funky frock she wore to the Global Awards in London on March 5. Though the concept of mixing materials and fabrics seemed interesting, it didn't quite work when executed.

Ming Na-Wen sported this stunning strapless frock by Mark Zunino at the "Mulan" premiere in Los Angeles on March 9. The star's satin confection featured a sweetheart neckline and a full ballgown skirt complete with a lengthy train.

Well, this is certainly a statement jacket. We're just not sure we like what it's saying! Jameela Jamil rocked an outlandish Issey Miyake piece that she belted and wore with matching wide-legged trousers while out and about in New York City on March 10, delivering a funky ensemble that landed her square on the miss list.

We were feeling Shailene Woodley's denim-hued Stella McCartney ensemble. The star rocked this two-hued blue look at the designer's fashion show during Paris Fashion Week on March 2. From the short-sleeved blouse to the embroidered, wide-legged denim to the way she paired it with those killer strappy tan sandals, we approved of every inch of this getup!

Alicia Vikander rocked a funky Louis Vuitton combo when she attended the fashion house's runway show in Paris on March 3, but we couldn't get behind the mismatched pairing — a super-casual blue collared and zippered top tucked into a dressier orange, red, black and tan miniskirt. Completing her look? Equally busy and wild heels that cemented this whole ensemble as a miss.

Poppy Delevingne wore this adorable Miu Miu design to the brand's show during Paris Fashion Week on March 3. The black-and-white minidress featured a sweet bow detail at the neckline and just the right amount of ruffles along the hem. And when it came time to complete her look, she added a dash of metallic via silver strappy sandals and a matching clutch.

Another look we hope doesn't become a trend this month? The ensemble that Kendall Jenner wore while out in Los Angeles on March 5. The model rocked a white shirt with a diagonal stripe tucked into a pair of tight black shorts and completed her look with gray sneakers — a funky, unfortunate street-style moment.

Model Sara Sampaio embraced the March pantsuit trend in this gorgeous bright blue number by Michael Kors. She paired her bold blue three-piece suit with a matching silk shirt and stark white pointy-toe pumps at the Roundabout Theatre Company's Annual Gala in New York City on March 2.

Another "Westworld" premiere miss on March 5! Though we appreciated Lena Waithe's bold multicolored Rich Fresh suit, we wish she would have gone with a simple blouse underneath. Instead, the busy print distracted us from the full effect of the suit's geometric shapes, amounting to a fashion miss.

Another killer pantsuit this month? That came from Rosamund Pike, who sported this sleek ruby red Alexander McQueen number at the "Radioactive" premiere in London on March 8. The double-breasted suit jacket with black piping and the matching trousers paired perfectly with her simple black pumps.

A pantsuit we didn't adore? The unfortunate shiny green metallic suit that Jaimie Alexander wore to the "Bloodshot" premiere in Los Angeles on March 10. From the glittery fabric to the absence of a shirt underneath, this look seriously fell flat.

Andie MacDowell looked ready for spring in this pale yellow pantsuit with a matching top underneath. We loved the monochrome look that she wore to the National Women's History Museum's Women Making History Awards in Los Angeles on March 8 — and the way she paired it with some fab animal-print heels.

While we admire her dedication to this shade of green, we couldn't endorse Paula Abdul's outfit at the Power of Love Gala in Las Vegas on March 7. She rocked a minidress with feathers and ruffles with matching feathered heels — a blatant fashion miss.

It's hard to reinvent the ubiquitous sky-high slit, but the Mugler dress that Dua Lipa wore to the Global Awards in London on March 5 did a good job of it. The studded black frock, which featured a high neck, long sleeves and a full-length skirt, included a wide slit that reached up to her hip. She wore the daring frock with tights and simple black heels — a surprisingly refreshing ensemble.

We're not quite sure what's going on here, but we know we don't like it! Cheryl Cole sported this strange outfit at a photocall for "The Greatest Dancer" in London on March 5 — a cream turtleneck underneath a buttoned-up dark brown leather jacket paired with busy flower-print wide-legged pants.

If you're looking for wardrobe inspiration for chilly March weather, check out the darling getup Emilia Clarke wore in London on March 3. The beauty sported a pretty patchwork sweater underneath a camel coat and finished things off with black high-waisted trousers accessorized with a thick belt and dark brown boots — an A+ street-style moment.

We weren't wild about the silver Burberry number Thandie Newton wore to the "Westworld" premiere in Los Angeles on March 5. The sleeveless frock started out strong with a triangular bodice but lost us with all the ruching down the skirt and that unnecessary tiny train.

Too many metallics! Carly Rae Jepsen was on hand for the Christian Cowan x The Powerpuff Girls Runway Show in Los Angeles on March 8 and arrived rocking this shiny pink minidress from the designer with a pair of equally reflective silver boots. Yikes!
