Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry's first post-royal wedding appearance took place on May 22, 2018 — just three days after their nuptials. The couple stepped out for a palace garden party in honor of Prince Charles's 70th birthday, where Harry gave a speech paying tribute to his father.

The next time we saw the royal newlyweds was for another very important occasion — Trooping the Colour, which is the queen's official birthday celebration. Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry joined the rest of the royal family in London on June 9, 2018, to honor Queen Elizabeth II. It marked Meghan's first time at the annual event.

Time to get to work! Prince Harry was appointed a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, just weeks before he tied the knot, so it was only natural that Duchess Meghan would help him in this new role. The couple attended a reception marking the culmination of the Commonwealth Secretariat's Youth Leadership Workshop at Marlborough House in London on July 5, 2018. They also attended another Commonwealth event a week prior alongside the queen. Later on, in March 2019, Meghan was named vice president of the Queen's Commonwealth Trust, of which the queen is patron and Harry is president.
July also marked the christening of Prince Harry's newest nephew, Prince Louis. Duchess Meghan and Harry were on hand for Prince William's son's big day at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace in London.
The day after Prince Louis's christening, it was time for another important event — a celebration marking the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force. Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry joined the royal family to mark the milestone at Westminster Abbey in London.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's first royal tour as a married couple took place in Ireland in July 2018. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in Dublin, where they had a full itinerary of stops at places including Dogpatch Labs (where they spoke with young entrepreneurs) and the Gaelic Athletic Association (where they met with athletes, seen here).
The Sentebale ISPS Handa Polo Cup is an annual event where Prince Harry and Prince William raise money for charities they support. In July 2018, Prince Harry had his new wife, Duchess Meghan, by his side. The newlyweds made headlines when they shared a sweet kiss after the event.
Another first! Duchess Meghan attended her first Royal Ascot on July 19, 2018. Prince Harry joined his wife, who drew raves from fashion critics for her Givenchy look and Philip Treacy hat, during day one of the annual five-day horse racing event, which is always a social highlight of the summer.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan saw "Hamilton" for a good cause in August! The couple were on hand for a benefit performance of the award-winning musical in London to support Harry's Sentebale charity, and they were certainly in good company: Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda watched the show with them. "It was pretty surreal to see that the duchess knows the lyrics a little better than I do," the playwright later told HELLO! "She was sitting next to me and mouthing along."
Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry's next big outing, in September, was another entertaining evening benefiting charity. They attended a concert called the 100 Days to Peace Gala, which marked the 100th anniversary of the final 100 days of World War I. That night's earnings went to veterans support organizations like Help for Heroes, Combat Stress and Heads Together.
Another royal wedding! This time, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan got to be guests at St. George's Chapel as they watched Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie marry Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12, 2018.
A royal baby! In October 2018, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry announced that they were expecting their first child, who they said was due in the spring of 2019.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's baby announcement came as they started a royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand. Among the most memorable moments of the trip? This cute encounter with a koala!
After a lengthy international royal tour, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan arrived home in England in early November. A few weeks later, Duchess Meghan was spotted with her hands over her growing baby bump as they attended the Royal Variety Performance in London.
The Fab Four! Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan made an appearance alongside Prince William and Duchess Kate on Christmas Day 2018 as they all attended Dec. 25 services at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Norfolk near the queen's Sandringham estate.
Time to visit Morocco! Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan went on another international royal trip in February. The couple headed off to Morocco for a three-day visit that included a henna ceremony, an event at the British ambassador's residence and a private meeting with the country's King Mohammed VI.
Surprise! Fans thought only Prince Harry would be in attendance at a WE Day UK event on March 6, 2019, but Duchess Meghan had a special treat in store for them. The pregnant royal showed up too to encourage young people to take part in positive social change. Harry gave a speech that included a quote from Martin Luther King: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
Baby watch! With the beginning of spring, royal watchers were keeping tabs on pregnant Duchess Meghan in anticipation of her child's arrival. On March 19, 2019, she and Prince Harry made their last public appearance together before Meghan went on maternity leave. They paid a somber visit to New Zealand House in London after news broke of the tragic shootings at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Baby bliss! The biggest highlight of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's first year of marriage came a few weeks before their anniversary — the birth of their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor! He arrived on May 6, 2019. The couple introduced their bundle of joy to the world at Windsor Castle two days later.
