Olivia Newton-John reveals third cancer diagnosis
Olivia Newton-John revealed that her current battle with cancer is actually her third time fighting the disease, as she chose not to share in 2013 that doctors had found that her breast cancer had resurfaced in her shoulder. "I thought, 'It's my life,' and I just decided to keep it to myself," the "Grease" alum explained to Australia's "Sunday Night" program on Sept. 9. The 69-year-old singer-actress first fought breast cancer in 1992. In 2017, she revealed a recurrence in the base of her spine.

Nick Carter will not be prosecuted for alleged sexual assault
Nick Carter will not face prosecution for an alleged 2003 sexual assault, the Los Angeles District Attorney's office announced on Sept. 11, citing an expired statute of limitations. In February, Dream singer Melissa Schuman filed a police report accusing the Backstreet Boys singer of raping her when she was 18 and he was in his early 20s. Nick has vehemently denied her accusations.

CMT to honor only female artists on Artists of the Year special
CMT will be honoring all female artists on its 2018 Artists of the Year special, according to a Sept. 11 announcement. "In this monumental year for women, dedicating one of the biggest nights in the genre to applaud female country artists not only solidifies our commitment, but we hope will spark a much needed change in the industry," CMT Senior Vice President Leslie Frame said. Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini, Maren Morris, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott are the intended honorees on the program, which airs Oct. 17.
Nicki Minaj calls Cardi B fight "mortifying and humiliating"
Nicki Minaj addressed the headline-making Fashion Week fight between her and fellow rapper Cardi B on her Apple Music/Beats 1 "Queen Radio" show on Sept. 10. The rapper said she found the shoe-throwing incident — which occurred on Sept. 7 at the Harper's Bazaar Icons party — to be "mortifying and humiliating," especially because it took place in front of the "upper echelon people who have their lives together."
2018 American Music Awards nominees announced
The American Music Awards announced its 2018 nominees during a special YouTube event in Los Angeles on Sept. 12. Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello and Cardi B are among the top contenders for AMAs this year. As for the coveted album of the year prize, Taylor is up against Drake, Imagine Dragons, Post Malone and her close friend Ed Sheeran. "Black-ish" star Tracee Ellis Ross will host the ceremony live on Oct. 9.

Aerosmith joined "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon on Sept. 12 for a special "Classroom Instruments" rendition of their hit song "Walk This Way." Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and members of house band The Roots used kazoos, a mini guitar, maracas, a xylophone and a pair of Adidas sneaker shakers to perform the track.
