Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the biggest celebrity style moments of November 2017 — the good, the bad and the fugly! — starting with the divisive Vera Wang dress that Diane Kruger donned during the German premiere of "In the Fade" in Hamburg on Nov. 21. The midi-length frock featured gold sequins on the skirt, neckline and waist, silver beadwork on the skirt and down the sides, and gingham-print fabric across the bust and on the ruffled shoulder straps, which made the blonde beauty look like she was wearing her underwear on the outside of her ensemble. This is not the way to do it, ladies! Jennifer Garner failed to pull off the velvet trend in a one-shoulder Johanna Ortiz dress with a sweetheart neckline during the premiere of "The Tribes of Palos Verdes" in Los Angeles on Nov. 17. The dress wasn't terrible — it just wasn't especially flattering. (Such a glam fabric in such a glam hue deserves an equally glam gown, we think!) Unfortunately, she completed her look with teal velvet Chloe Gosselin platforms when black pumps probably would've sufficed.
Diana Ross donned a sleeveless black Vivienne Westwood dress with yards of extra tulle that she wore as a cape during the American Music Awards. Sadly, it looked like she'd wrapped herself in a roll of fabric and kept everything in place with an extra-thick belt. The iconic singer completed her look with silver sandals and one of the weirdest hats we've seen all year. Let's take a closer look…
Maybe Diana Ross figured it would be easier to turn her Halloween decorations into a hat than to pack them away in her garage? During the AMAs, the iconic singer donned some befuddling headwear that looked like someone stuck massive black dandelions onto a black baseball cap.
We love Jessica Chastain. And we REALLY love the strapless lilac Armani Prive Couture confection that she wore during Taiwan's 54th Golden Horse Awards (the Chinese Oscars) in Taipei on Nov. 25. Sadly, the fabulous frock just didn't fit the gorgeous actress, who appeared uncomfortably confined within the too-tight bodice. (We also would've added a few inches to the hem to cover her black pumps.)
The black leather motorcycle jacket-inspired Coach minidress that Selena Gomez wore during the American Music Awards featured a zipper that ran all the way down the front — and made us really, really nervous. It was a wardrobe malfunction just waiting to happen. To make matters worse, it wasn't especially flattering on the petite singer-actress, who used the AMAs as an opportunity to debut her new blonde 'do.
Emma Roberts donned one of the most befuddling gowns of the month — a gingham-print, off-the-shoulder Ulyana Sergeenko gown with a ruffled waist, a sheer skirt and an oversized bow detail across the front — during the 68th National Book Awards in New York City on Nov. 15.
Sadly, Pink's lavender locks clashed with the salmon strapless Monique Lhuillier tiered gown that she wore during the American Music Awards. The dress featured gorgeous (but still clashing) flower embellishments on the bodice. Let's take a closer look…
The pansies on Pink's Monique Lhuillier gown were gorgeous, so it's a shame they clashed so badly with the salmon hue of the dress. We also took issue with the fact that the singer donned exclusively silver jewelry considering her frock featured gold detailing. (The unique bling on her right hand is pretty rad, though!)
Someone's having an identity crisis! Alessandra Ambrosio donned a super-strange Versace creation that was half floor-length, long-sleeved gown with ruffles and half sleeveless, sequined minidress during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show afterparty in Shanghai on Nov. 20.
Demi Lovato stood out in a strapless Ester Abner number with a train during the American Music Awards. The glamorous gown, which featured a bustier top and draping at the hips, perfectly accentuated the singer-actress's curves. She wisely channeled Old Hollywood by wearing her extra-long tresses down in loose waves and accessorized with $215K Gismondi 1754 "Diva" collection diamond chandelier earrings.
Red leather over-the-knee boots are SO in right now, so even though we personally hate them, Elsa Hosk was technically right on-trend when she wore a pair during a visit to "The Wendy Williams Show" in New York City on Nov. 28. The Victoria's Secret Angel wore her eye-catching footwear with an ultra-feminine strappy periwinkle dress with a thigh-high slit and a ruffled, plunging neckline with crisscross ties. She completed her look with fire engine-red lipstick and an oversized cream cardigan — cause it's cold, y'all!
Kelly Clarkson went glam in an off-the-shoulder black-and-gold Christian Siriano gown with a train during the American Music Awards. If only her 'do had been worthy of such a dramatic dress! We know the stick-straight thing is in, but an updo really would've looked great here.
Saoirse Ronan effortlessly pulled off a tricky Rodarte number — a sleeveless gown with embroidered flowers and ruffles — during the 27th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City on Nov. 27. It was a delightfully feminine (but not too frilly!) look.
We're going to have an emotional breakdown if we see ONE MORE black dress with a sheer skirt on the red carpet this year. Kirsten Dunst donned one of our least favorites of the month — a busy Dior confection with asymmetrical ruffles and a collar, which seemed completely out of place on such a whimsical frock — during the Guggenheim International Gala in New York City on Nov. 16.
Here it comes: the emotional breakdown we promised! Olivia Munn donned a mess of a sheer black dress complete with long sleeves and a thigh-high slit during HBO's Night of Too Many Stars: America Unites for Autism Programs event in New York City on Nov. 18. If you're going to take a stab at this tired trend, at least make it interesting! (Suddenly, we're feeling less critical of Kirsten Dunst's sheer black dress…)
Carey Mulligan gets SO MANY extra points for the sleeveless embroidered Dior dress with a high neckline that she wore during the 27th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards in New York City on Nov. 27, and here's why: This sheath is actually sheer. But rather than conforming to the tired trend, the Oscar nominee wore the gown with a matching liner for one of the classiest couture looks of the month.
We loved it when Kim Kardashian West donned a loose-fitting suit jacket sans shirt earlier this month, so we were surprised how much we hated her second stab at the trend during the Bumble Bizz Los Angeles launch dinner in Malibu on Nov. 15. This time, the reality TV star kept her top buttoned and accessorized with a gold pendant necklace. Her choice of bottoms — black short shorts and strappy nude sandals — gave her a sloppy, unfinished appearance. Bummer!
Mandy Moore paired a one-shoulder Johanna Ortiz top featuring a ruffled waist and train with black leather pants — seamlessly blending the ultra-feminine with the edgy — during the HFPA and InStyle celebration of Golden Globe Season in Los Angeles on Nov. 15.

Meanwhile, Lily Collins disappointed in a long-sleeved, floral-print Zimmermann minidress with a high neckline and bizarre cutouts down the front during the 33rd Film Independent Spirit Awards nominations announcement in Los Angeles on Nov. 21. The frock — which would've been better suited to a daytime party during the spring than in the fall — was pretty enough upon first glance, but we just really hated the cut-outs, which cheapened the whole getup. Tacky!
Ciara slayed in a long-sleeved Alexandre Vauthier haute couture wrap dress with shoulder pads and a thigh-high slit that perfectly flaunted one of her incredibly well-toned thighs during the American Music Awards. We love the way her wetted tresses added to this slick, rock 'n' roll look.
Ladies, take note! Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a gorgeous embellished Temperley London gown with cap sleeves that was simultaneously sexy and age appropriate during the Walpole British Luxury Awards in London on Nov. 20.
Camila Cabello had a major princess moment in an ethereal nude Monique Lhuillier gown with a plunging neckline, extra tulle at the shoulders and a pretty pink tie at the waist during the Latin Grammy Awards.
Hailee Steinfeld showed off her versatile sense of style in a chic Mugler suit — a loose-fitting blazer with major shoulder pads over a leather bustier crop top and trousers — during the American Music Awards. We loved this edgy ensemble on her but were less wild about her messy, slicked-back 'do. An updo really would've allowed those epic shoulder pads to make the statement they so deserved to make!
Emmy Rossum donned a pretty Prabal Gurung Resort 2018 LBD with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slits during the Television Academy Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Los Angeles on Nov. 15. We especially loved the laser-cut ruffles at the shoulders! Well done.

The "Grown-ish" star wore a trench coat over a black button-down with a zebra-print collar and gray embroidered shorts. She completed her ensemble with gray knee-high socks and silver platform heels. Whether you loved it or hated it, you had to appreciate that this was a LOOK.
It seems like everyone in Hollywood has been taking style inspiration from "Dynasty" of late. Jackie Cruz donned an iridescent '80s-inspired minidress with a plunging neckline and massive poof sleeves during the Latin Grammy Awards. To make matters worse, the "Orange Is the New Black" star wore the frock so that it slouched down off one shoulder, which gave her fit figure a sadly shapeless appearance.

The oversized keyhole cutout wasn't exactly a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen, but the crossed straps across the chest gave us major S&M vibes, which is not our preferred aesthetic on the lovely Irish actress.

We love the way she completed her look with a choker, extra-dark eyebrows and her gorgeous head of loose curls.

The actress sported a baby-pink one-piece with a draped bodice during NBCUniversal Holiday Kick Off Event in Los Angeles on Nov. 13. She completed her look with a matching headband and soft makeup in shades of pink that sadly made her appear washed out. She's beautiful, yes, but wouldn't this ensemble look better on a teenager during the dog days of summer? It's just too cutesy for a 35 year old in mid-November!
Eva Longoria donned a bizarre pinstriped Mario Dice dress with a single oversized lapel and a front slit during the Hollywood Film Awards in Beverly Hills on Nov. 5. The frock also featured three oddly placed reflective bars across the skirt.

Ashley Graham looked white-hot in MESHKI separates — a long-sleeved crop top with a high neckline and a curve-hugging pencil skirt — during the Forevermark Diamonds Tribute Collection launch in New York City on Nov. 7. The best part is that the entire outfit retails for just $76!
Michelle Monaghan donned a truly terrible sparkly Paco Rabanne jumpsuit during the CMA Awards in Nashville on Nov. 8. From the stirrups on the feet of her pants to the completely open asymmetrical bodice (a wardrobe malfunction just waiting to happen!), it was all bad. We have to say, though: The woman has an amazing body, and we can't really blame her for wanting to show it off.
Diane Kruger always keeps things interesting when it comes to the red carpet, so we weren't surprised when she paired a loose-fitting burgundy crop top featuring asymmetrical floral detailing with a black pencil skirt featuring clusters of silver sequins. Both pieces by N°21 are lovely but make such strong statements on their own that we're just not wild about them together. The blonde beauty donned the eye-catching ensemble during the AFI Filmmakers event as part of Audi AFI Fest in Hollywood on Nov. 10.
We much prefer the rhinestone-encrusted burgundy dress that Diane Kruger donned during the Audi AFI Fest Indie Contenders Roundtable in Hollywood on Nov. 12. The frock featured one of fall's hottest trends — poof sleeves — and a collar. Cute!

Maren Morris donned one of our least favorite looks of the month during the CMA Awards in Nashville on Nov. 8. The gorgeous singer chose a totally over-the-top sleeveless Francesco Scognamiglio confection with a mesh skirt and ruffles at the bust and hem. We can see this look on Nicki Minaj or Katy Perry, but it's not really the best choice for the country cutie, who tried to match the vibe of the dress with her blinged-out jewelry and chic bob. Unfortunately, this is what we call "letting the dress wear you."
We love America Ferrera, so we were sad to see her in the incredibly unflattering ensemble that she wore during NBCUniversal's Holiday Kick Off Event in Los Angeles on Nov. 13. The "Superstore" star donned a checkered blouse over a black turtleneck, which she wore with a pleated ankle-length skirt. America wisely accessorized with a red clutch and matching shoes, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough to save this getup.
Jared Leto continued his love affair with bizarre fashion during the MTV Europe Music Awards in London on Nov. 12. The Oscar winner wore a pink blouse with a lavender jacket, red Gucci track pants, yellow-and-orange socks and white sneakers. The giant flower on his lapel really brought together his clown-inspired ensemble.
