Ready to second-guess your life choices? It's time to round up all the ways the stars are nothing like us! First up, a story that proves it's very good to be a celebrity dog. In fact, sometimes it might be better than being just a normal person. Case in point? Martha Stewart's French bulldogs are hand-fed "local, organic, sustainable turkey bacon" by Martha herself, according to the New York Post, whose source saw this very over-the-top act go down in the Hamptons this month after Martha special-ordered the pups' meal from a local restaurant. It's good to be Oprah! In a recent interview for the September issue of Vogue, Oprah Winfrey touched on her obsession with owning really fancy bathtubs. The mogul shared a story from her childhood about being forced to clean the dirty tub as a kid and making a vow to herself at a young age: "I was going to get myself a good tub." And that she did! In her Telluride, Colorado, home, she has a bathtub that's been molded and shaped to her body. She explained to the interviewer, "I major in bathtubs. I spend my time looking for the best possible bathtub a woman can buy." Queen Oprah is truly living the dream!
Sometimes it's nice to decompress from a stressful day at work with a nice dose of ridiculous reality TV. Notorious reality fan Jennifer Lawrence did just that while filming the upcoming horror flick "mother!" — except she took it to extremes, as only a celebrity can: Production staff on the set of the film created a "Kardashian tent" for J.Law where she could escape after shooting intense scenes. "It was a tent that had pictures of the Kardashians and 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' playing on a loop — and gumballs," she says in Vogue's September 2017 issue. "My happy place."
Is it headline news when you post something on social media? Probably not. But if you're Taylor Swift — especially the Taylor Swift of late, who has been keeping a very low profile — every move you make on Twitter and Instagram is a massive deal. So when the star cleared her social media accounts of all old posts in mid-August and days later started sharing mysterious, silent videos of what appeared to be a snake's body writhing around, not only did the world take notice, but fans started analyzing all of the possible meanings behind her new social media presence. And we thought our food pics were super interesting!
Typically, your family and friends are the only ones who really care about your breakups. But when you're a Hollywood power couple like Anna Faris and Chris Pratt, it seems like the whole world is invested in the split! When the pair announced in early August that they were separating after eight years of marriage, Twitter had a bona fide meltdown, with fans of the stars lamenting the split and even making the hashtag #LoveIsDead trend on the social media site.
Kids love "Sesame Street." And when you're the child of celebrities and you love "Sesame Street," sometimes your famous father gets a chance to stop by the show — and have the characters all tape a personalized message for you! That's what happened to Luna Stephens recently — and mom Chrissy Teigen documented the moment the adorable 1 year old got to watch dad John Legend alongside the "Sesame Street" crew all saying hello to her.
It's a celebrity's job to look good, so often people just assume they've had work done. So what happens when a star actually has remained au naturale and just really looks that good? Well, everyone accuses her of going under the knife anyway! This recently happened to Kate Beckinsale, who opened up to ELLE in early August about the accusations. "You can see I haven't done anything," she tells the interviewer while making plenty of facial movements to prove she's filler- and Botox-free. "I know that paralyzing one's face must be a bad idea but I'm accused of it constantly," Kate explained, insisting that her insanely youthful looks are actually, in fact, genetic.
Regular folk have hometown pride, but when celebrities feel like really repping where they're from, they have the means to take it to a whole new level. Take Beyonce, for example, who is reportedly in talks to buy a stake in her hometown basketball team, the Houston Rockets. If the superstar ends up becoming a part owner, she'll be following in the footsteps of hubby JAY-Z, who used to own a portion of his own hometown team, the Brooklyn Nets, before selling his share in 2013.
Everything is scrutinized when you're half of a celebrity couple. Just ask Liam Hemsworth! The star donned a ring on a certain finger recently, which started all sorts of rumors that he and Miley Cyrus are already married. A source close to the couple denied the allegation, telling E! News that the band is more of a "'promise' to Miley," and that while the on-again, off-again couple are dedicated to each other, they're not legally married quite yet.
Most people dream of owning a vacation home, but when you're a star, you don't just have a run-of-the-mill place to get away. Mel Gibson recently listed his Costa Rica bungalow — and the price tag will shock you! The actor's three-building property, which comes with 11 bedrooms and more than two miles of coastland, is on the market for $29.75 million. What a steal!
It might not always make sense, but when you're a star, it's pretty easy to stick your name on a line of products. The latest example? Catherine Zeta-Jones, who's launching a new home decor line! While the actress isn't the first person we'd think of when imagining home decor and bedding items, she recently revealed her new brand, Casa Zeta-Jones, will feature "touches of Old Hollywood elegance" and will be sold on QVC starting Sept. 28.
In August, George Clooney and Amal Clooney put their money where their mouth is, donating $1 million to help combat hate groups in light of recent violent events steeped in racism. The couple put out a statement following their generous contribution, stating, "Amal and I wanted to add our voice (and financial assistance) to the ongoing fight for equality. There are no two sides to bigotry and hate. We are proud to support the Southern Poverty Law Center in its efforts to prevent violent extremism in the United States. What happened in Charlottesville, and what is happening in communities across our country, demands our collective engagement to stand up to hate."
